Kontich/Ghent, 14 November 2019 Gumption is acquiring 40% of Geosparc, the Ghent-based specialist in geospatial software solutions for cities, municipalities and their residents. The collaboration is a strategic win-win for both parties. Geosparc is seeking new markets and synergies with other companies in the Gumption Group. Gumption is expanding its 360° approach to digital transformation, and taking a new step in e-mobility.

Geosparc builds software solutions and digital maps for its customers. These tools enable the customers to manage e.g. sensor-monitored parking spaces and traffic flows, while allowing citizens to report incidents or reserve the use of public space for making a move or holding an event. The integration with the customer´s systems and processes leads to better business decision-making, more efficient processes and new insights. The underlying open source technologies and data guarantee independence and flexibility. Several cities - including Kortrijk, Leuven, Hasselt, Turnhout, Geel, Roeselare and Lier - are currently already working together with Geosparc.

Synergy with a financially powerful group

We believe that the synergies with the Gumption Group will help us achieve our growth ambitions”, says Kris De Pril, CEO of Geosparc. “We work primarily for cities, municipalities and government authorities. But there’s substantial growth potential for our applications in industry as well. Together with the Gumption Group we want to expand our market and create more business value for our existing customers. The backing of a large and financially sound group reinforces our market position and effectiveness.

Mobility

Mobility is a crucial topic for governments and companies”, says Bart Embrechts, managing partner of Gumption. “The e-mobility platform of CenEnergy was our first major engagement in that field, and Geosparc’s solutions integrate with it seamlessly. Moreover, having Geosparc in the group strengthens our 360° strategy: a co-creation approach for digital innovation on the basis of combined expertise and competencies."

Meet Geosparc and Gumption during the Flanders Digital Information Day on November 28th in the ICC in Ghent. At stand 41 (ground floor) you will be able e.g. to see demonstrations of various mobility applications.
